This class will explore the world of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s from civil rights and women’s rights movements to pop art, superrealism, and environmental art. The focus will be the 50th anniversary installation of the first floor galleries featuring the work of Andy Warhol, George Segal, Romare Bearden, and May Stevens in this two-part series. The first session will be held at Lifelong.

The second session will take place at the Johnson Museum. While it is the participants’ responsibility to get to the museum, carpooling might be arranged during the first session at Lifelong. (Parking at the museum is very limited.)

Instructor: Carol Hockett

Carol Hockett, Hintsa Family Manager, has been the Coordinator of School and Family Programs at the Johnson Museum of Art since 2004. Previously she oversaw adult programs and gallery interpretation at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City.
