Preparing Ourselves for the Risks of Floods & Excessive Heat in Tompkins County (2 sessions)

September 18, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Monday, repeating until September 18, 2023

$20.00

We are seeing more extreme rain events and more intense heat waves in Tompkins County. Let’s get ready together for the risks ahead by thinking about how to prepare, who to contact for help and how to get through it. Also, we want to hear your concerns and suggestions about what we need from the county and first responders.

(Class minimum 4, maximum 25.)

Instructors: Regi Teasley, Ingrid Zabel

Regi is a retired Sociology professor, environmentalist and chair of the Tompkins County Environmental Management Council’s Climate Adaptation Committee.

Ingrid is the Climate Change Education Manager at the Paleontological Research Institution and its Museum of the Earth and the Cayuga Nature Center.
