UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT LIFELONG AND REQUIRE MEMBERSHIP
An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until May 15, 2024
How, when, and where something is said is just as important as what is said. We will trace the development of theatre experiences from the time of Shakespeare through the present era. Then we’ll focus on five feature films that present Shakespeare in new and exciting ways. Written introductions and synopses of all the plays will be provided. All films will be subtitled for added clarity and enjoyment. When time permits, discussion will be encouraged but tests and quizzes will be strictly forbidden!
For a list of films and more information, click here, or pick one up at Lifelong.
Instructor: Preston Wilson
Preston taught high school English & Creative Writing in Auburn for 39 years. There, he honed his skills as a presenter of Shakespeare on film to initially doubtful teenagers. The young people were enthusiastic and, more importantly, willing to say they liked the experience. Preston is a former Peace Corps volunteer (Ecuador), a happy gardener, and an even happier grandfather.
