Weekday Get-Away with Poetry (2 sessions)

Join Tompkins County Poet Laureate Janie Bibbie in the land of poetry! Get away from your routine!

• July 11 share a poem that you love. Read poems you wrote and hid. Enjoy listening.
• July 18 You can do haiku. It’s as easy as five-seven-five. Come and listen. Bring your favorite haiku poems. We will write haiku together.

Instructor: Janie Bibbie

Janie E. Bibbie is the Tompkins County Poet Laureate for 2023-2024. She is author of Alzheimer’s: Up Close and Personal and several books of poetry, including Dancing with a Wanderer, Willow, Keep Moving, Thunderstorm, Waiting Room and Remnants. She is a member of Business Leaders of Colors, Lifelong, and the Greater Ithaca Activities Center Senior Program. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ithaca College. In her role as Poet Laureate, she hopes to encourage members of the Tompkins County community to join her in reading, writing, and sharing poetry.
